Farms at Work is happy to present the next in its series of farm business management tours, this time at The Stoddart Family Farm.
Join us this Sunday, June 16th, from 1-4pm, as “reforming industrial farmer” and author, Harry Stoddart, along with his wife and partner, Silvia, lead an informative tour of their diverse grassfed livestock operation and share their production and marketing strategies.
The pair has been farming together for 20 years. They started out as confinement hog farmers, and then switched to growing 2,000 acres of organic grain crops.
Currently Harry and Sylvia farm 320 acres of pasture and hay, on which they graze beef, meat and wool sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks. Their primary marketing outlet is their 100+ member meat CSA, which they have been running for five years, and have sold out ever since they started.
If you’re considering expanding into livestock and/or field crop production, this farm tour will be a great opportunity to fire questions at two experienced farmers. Come visit Canada’s only herd of White Park cattle, as the Stoddarts outline their business and background on an informal field walk.
Pre-registration is required, as space is limited. $25/person, or $35/pair. For more information, please contact Jay Adam:
